Closing Date Set ... Getting Closer Each Day

Today we got word that we will be closing on the house on November 7th at 3:00 pm.  We will be moving into our new home on the 9th and are super excited.  Landscaping still hasn't been started and we were also told today that our contractor is bringing in a different person for the job, so hopefully soon.

In the meantime, lots is happening at the house.  Siding is still being place and three sides are now finished and they are starting work on the front finally.  Hopefully we will have some good pictures of that before the weekend.

Inside tile is down everywhere it belongs other than the kitchen back splash which should be started soon. First up is the master bathroom, the tile was just laid on the floor so we couldn't enter the room to take pictures of the shower tile, so will have to update that tomorrow.

This is a zoom lens shot of the wall tile around the future tub, I think it will look great when completed.

This is a picture of the lower level bathroom.  The floor tile is in but not the grout yet.  We also found that our mirrors arrived and were installed today as well as the vanity counters/sinks and some of the lights:

This is the girls' bathroom on the main floor.  Again tile is in but no grout yet.  I love that we managed to fit two mirrors, two lights and two sinks in this space for them.  Drawer and door pulls have been added to all the cabinets in the house as well.

The last bit of tile is the wet bar area in the lower level.  All the floors have a dust/dirt film smeared on them. This tile is actually black and looks gray at this point!  Cabinet doors are being installed with glass panels for the upper cabinets.

Painting also continues.  We have changed the master bedroom from brown and purple to gray and purple and I am happy with how it is looking, but the room is fully of tools and I couldn't get a picture.  The girls' rooms are done other than carpeting but also are "work rooms" for carpet pad rolls and tools, so again pictures will wait.  The ceiling tray in the family room is now painted with the black color and so is the soffit over the kitchen island.  Light fixtures have been installed in many places as well.  The fireplace wall is finally getting the rest of the mud work done on it and will be re-painted black soon.  These are a few pictures of the living room/dining room/kitchen areas:

Lots of Progress Again Today ...

Today we met with Bill, our tile guy, and his son, Nick, at the house to look at options for laying the tile and answer some questions they had about the areas.  They completed laying the tiles in the mudroom area and just have to grout between them.

The tile prep also continued today and the shower stall walls were made ready for the tile.  We found our the floor tile for the master bathroom will not be in stock in time for our closing on the home, so we are on the hunt for a replacement choice, hopefully we will find something quickly.

The painter/stainer is continuing to work hard as the hope is that all painting and staining will be completed by early next week.

The girls' rooms have been painted again today and the padding for the carpeting areas is now in Madison's room awaiting installation throughout the house.

Finally, the most obvious change to the house today is the siding on the back side of the house ... making some definite progress!!

Start of Siding & More Prep Work for Tile

The rain finally let up this afternoon and hopefully the yard will start to dry out so that work become easier outside and landscaping can move ahead.

The siding was started today on the back of house and hopefully will be much more visible tomorrow:

We also noticed that we have an air conditioning unit installed along the side of the home:

The prep work for the tile and other flooring installation with the mud room having a subfloor material placed and the shower pan was poured today:

Through the Fog ...

Literally ... not figuratively ... we stopped by the house tonight and the air was so thick with chemicals that we could hardly stand inside for more a minute or two without coughing and watery eyes.  Even the pictures all look like there is a fog or a haze hanging in the air, because ... well ... there was ...

All the trim, doors and window sills have been stained, most have been installed other than the baseboards which are all lined up in the back bedroom of the lower level and the family room:

The HVAC guys were busy today as well and we now have an air exchange system (which is very badly needed after the staining session today) and a furnace!

Bill, the flooring guy, was working a bit today too.  He delivered the rest of the tile and prepped the floors in the master bathroom and the girls' bathroom.

Another very exciting development over the past two days has been the delivery our siding and the scaffolding.  Our builder, Chris, informed us that the siders would be on site tomorrow to begin transforming our "green house" into our home!

Last, but certainly not least (especially in Peter's eyes) ... was the discovery that we have Direct TV installed and ready for hook up when we take possession of the house in a few weeks!

Stay tuned this week for lots of BIG changes ... siding is scheduled, tile floors are scheduled and by Monday we are told all staining and painting will be complete ... they are planning to install light fixtures next week!

Cabinets Installed

The cabinet makers were hard at work Friday installing all the cabinets they delivered on Thursday.  They managed to get them all in place and now they just have the finishing touches like the molding around the tops, the door fronts and hardware.  We are really loving the way everything is starting to come together and look like a home ... our home!

This the vanity for the girls' bathroom ... ready for the double sinks!

The lower cabinets have been installed on either side of the fireplace and only needs doors and upper shelves to finish that area off.

The kitchen!  They started installing the molding around the top of the cabinets in this room.

This is the vanity inside the master bathroom.

This is the cabinet in the laundry room ready to have the sink installed.

Just a wide shot of the main living area starting to take shape.

The wet bar area ... makes us feel like mixing a drink!

Cabinets & Tub Surround

Not much has happened on site at Old Bridge Way the past few days, but apparently some things were happening off site with our cabinets.  Peter arrived there today and found cabinets stacked everywhere!

This is going to the wet bar countertop for the family room:

The master bathroom tub decking was also installed:

And lastly ... hopefully a sign of things to come ... Peter found some floor tile grout/mud ...
