Sneak preview of the appliances. The stove vent is in the process of being installed and the back splash has been finished and grouted. The refrigerator is now in place.
The carpeting has been installed in all rooms of the house now and the girls are extremely happy that their rooms are officially ready to be moved into aside from some serious dusting and vacuuming that is still needed!
The living room carpet is completed but the fireplace is getting a final touch up before a repaint.
The stone work has been finished on the front of the house but it was too dark to take a picture so we will post that tomorrow. Edging and some mulch has also been completed in the yard ... pictures to come later this week. We are officially one week away from closing and starting to move in!!

Getting Excited ... Lots of Little Finishes Happening ...
Everyday brings more and more little changes that make a big difference! Our basement carpeting is in the process of being installed:
The girls have determined that they LOVE the new carpet and it is especially squishy and soft:
The kitchen back splash has been worked on some more and will be completed this week after the appliances and vent hood are delivered tomorrow:
Peter was excited today as HIS soaker tub was installed and I think I am even getting excited about the thought of a bathtub that holds water up past my waist without draining!
My most favorite change so far is the installation of the stairwell railing system ... I absolutely am in love with the cable rail.
Here are a couple of wide shots from the front corner of the the main room by the door ... I think everything is coming together nicely so far!
The front of the house has been prepped for stonework to begin and we now have our official front door in place:

Every Day A Little Closer ...
Over the weekend, the hardwood floors were filled and sanded and the first coat of finish placed on them, they will get two more finish coats before closing day, but not until appliances are installed and carpeting is in and all the dusty and dirty jobs are completed.
More lights have been installed and actually hooked up to the electricity today as well. The stairwell lights were a new change for us as well as the dining room fixture.
Bruce, the tile and flooring guy, was hard at work with the master bathroom shower, the fire place hearth and the beginning of the back splash in the kitchen.
Another change today was that the closet shelving and has been started and nearly completed! The pantry is done:
Mudroom closet:
Master walk-in closet is in the process of being done. A shoe rack and a wall of shelving (not seen in this picture) still needs to be placed:
The girls' walk-in closets with the their passage way to the other girl's room are completed:
The garage/mudroom door has been painted and the main entry door has been stained and are ready to be installed before closing:
The AV guys has been busy wiring the house with speakers as well as the Direct TV connections, I call this "Peter's Wall":
The stone has been delivered and is ready to put into place on the front of house ... finally all the remaining green spots on the house will be covered!

Everyday Brings More Little Tweaks and Changes
This morning after dropping the girls off at school, we met with Al and Cindi the cabinet makers. They had the floating shelves for the fireplace wall and one other for the kitchen/dining room area. We talked with them about installation heights and when we returned later in the afternoon, they were in place and I am really happy with them. We just need the front of the fireplace to arrive to finish off that wall, oh and the tile for the hearth.
The plumber has been busy today as well. We now have faucets in most places, all the toilets have been installed except in the master and the master tub finally arrived although it is still sitting in the garage.
The siders were busy once again today and the front door and front of the house is finally starting to come together. They still have lots to do out front but so far we love it. The stone should be arriving soon for placement on the front as well.
We are hoping that the hardwood floors will be sanded this weekend and the first coat of sealer put on it with two more coats to follow sometime next week.

Landscaping Blues but Interior Progress
We met with the landscaper tonight and sadly the price of sod due to a shortage is much higher than usual and we will be lucky to afford much more than grass, some rock and a wimpy layer of mulch for the area by the road ... we will have to planting ourselves next spring or fall when hopefully we can replenish funds.
On the inside, most of the cabinet doors are installed and we found our kitchen counter tops installed today. They are actually jet black but there is so much dust inside right now, they look gray!
The stairway railing was installed (minus the steel cables) and stained today as well.
This is the shower in the master bath ... still in the process of being done.
Our little sitting bench in the mudroom and coat hooks have been added today too!
